Building Connection Off the Screen — Summer Bingo Cards from Empowered Play

Summer brings longer days, looser routines, and lots of opportunities for connection — but it can also bring disconnection, overstimulation, and plenty of screen time. At Empowered Play, we created two Summer Bingo Cards (one for kids and one for caregivers) to support families in using play and presence to build stronger, more attuned relationships during these months.
Each card includes 22 activities designed to:
• Encourage kids to be off screens and in their bodies
• Help families practice co-regulation and connection
• Offer simple, low-pressure invitations to be curious, creative, and present
Kid Bingo
Our Kid Bingo card was created with all ages (2–17) in mind. You’ll find a mix of:
• Movement-based play
• Sensory activities
• Moments for mindfulness and reflection
• Prompts for kindness and connection
These activities help kids connect with themselves and others, offering moments of joy, grounding, and self-expression — especially for kids who are missing the structure of the school year or feeling overwhelmed by “fun.”
Some examples:

🟣 Play with a grown-up
Parent & Caregiver Bingo
This card is especially for the grown-ups — parents, grandparents, and caregivers who want to connect more deeply with their child(ren) this summer, while also regulating themselves and staying attuned to what’s underneath the behavior.
These prompts focus on:
• Co-regulation tools
• Emotion validation
• Repair and communication skills
• Building shared moments of delight

🟤 Offer comfort silently
You don’t need to complete every square — it’s not about performance. It’s about creating simple, playful ways to invite real connection this summer.
