Welcome to Empowered Education - The training home of Empowered Play
We believe the best play therapy training comes from people who are actually in the playroom.
Empowered Education was built by a team of active play therapists who see clients, navigate the real messiness of the work, and still get excited about sand trays on a Tuesday afternoon. We are not teaching from memory. We are teaching from practice — and we think that difference shows up in the room with you.
Through Empowered Education, we offer continuing education courses and trainings designed to help you build hours toward your RPT or RPT-S credential, deepen your clinical skills, and reconnect with why you chose this work in the first place. Our courses are available live and in-person in Colorado, and online for play therapists wherever you are putting in the hours.
Whether you are just starting your path toward becoming a Registered Play Therapist or you are deep in the supervision hours needed for your RPT-S, you will find trainings here that meet you where you are and take you somewhere useful.

Q & A
What credit do your courses count toward?
All Empowered Education courses are offered through Empowered Play, an APT Approved Provider. Our courses count toward the continuing education hours required for your Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S) credential. Your certificate of completion will reflect your APT Approved Provider number and the number of contact hours earned.
What is the difference between your in-person and online courses?
Our in-person trainings are held in Colorado and offer a hands-on, experiential learning environment with opportunities for live skills practice, small group work, and connection with other play therapists in the room. Our online courses are available in two formats: live trainings that take place in real time with a presenter and allow for interaction and discussion, and self-paced recordings that you can complete on your own schedule. Both formats offer APT contact hours. Check each course listing to see which formats are currently available.
Are online courses live or self-paced?
Both, depending on the course. Some of our online trainings are delivered live at a scheduled date and time, with a real presenter and opportunities for discussion and interaction. Others are available as self-paced recordings you can work through on your own schedule. Each course listing will clearly indicate which format it uses.
What is your attendance policy?
APT requires full attendance to receive continuing education credit. For in-person trainings, this means being present for the entire training day, including all instructional segments. For live online trainings, this means remaining on camera and actively participating for the full duration of the session. Participants who arrive late, leave early, or miss a portion of either format will not be eligible for credit. Please plan accordingly.
What if I have to miss part of the training?
Because APT requires full attendance for credit, we are unable to issue a certificate for partial attendance regardless of format. If something comes up on the day of an in-person training, please contact us as soon as possible. For live online trainings, please note that logging off early or missing segments due to technical issues will affect your eligibility for credit. If you experience a technical difficulty, reach out to education@empoweredplayco.com right away and we will do our best to work with you on a case-by-case basis.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made at least 14 days prior to the training will receive a full refund, minus a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations made between 7 and 13 days prior will receive a 50% refund. No refunds are available for cancellations made within 6 days of the training or for non-attendance. If Empowered Education cancels a training, participants will receive a full refund or may transfer their registration to a future program. All refund and transfer requests must be submitted in writing to education@empoweredplayco.com.
